Just putting three first draft patches of the STS-62A crew patch proposals by artist Tim Gagnon on eBay. STS-62A is the canceled first launch of the space shuttle Discovery from Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Only for sale for 3 days only, so if you do not have them in you collection I'd bid now for them.

I'm not faulting Butch on any way but these patches are not first drafts but were unauthorized reproductions of my work by Randy Hunt. When confronted he gave me the (now typical) response that he was "sent the art with a request to manufacture patches."

If anyone wants to purchase them for what I perceive to be an inflated price, go ahead but they aren't worth it to me.

I hope Butch didn't spend that much.

I've had the three patches for so long in my collection, that I had forgot that Randy had made them. If I had remembered, I would have added that to the above item and I'll add it to the items on eBay.

As I didn't know who made them at the time, I only knew that you had designed them and believing that they were you first draft of the patches as they are so old and I have a set of your more up-to-date limited edition patches for the mission.

I did not set out to deceive anybody and do apologize if I've upset you in any way.

As to the price, I think £16+ each (£50 for the three) or £100 as a buy now for the patches is fair and considering how old and extremely rare these patches are to get ahold of, even if they were made by Randy. As I see a lot of patches of this age and new SpaceX ones, go for around $75+ a time in the US and that is over £50 a time in the UK.

I have made my opinions on Randy's patches on here before, and I'd just add that now he's no longer with us. We should recognise his patches as a collectible in their own right, but that is to say I do not condone his actions in any way in how he got the designs for the patches.

No worries Butch. You didn't upset me.

Sell them for whatever you can get. I was just clarifying the context of those patches and how they came to be made.

Tim, you're showing a high degree of class on this subject. Clearly, Butch didn't have anything to do with the piracy of your designs, but that must really dig at you that someone so unapologetically made money off your work.

I've been there myself, but for my military-related design and illustration. A friend of mine is a copyright attorney and I've had him come down hard on the times someone has pirated my own work...

All times are CT (US)
