These two models will be available soon. The YB-49 is really interesting, it's one of Gene Young's models and was built using a wind tunnel model supplied by Northrop to make the molds. I found a picture of the model Gene built for Northtrop and is hanging in the National Air and Space Museum, donated by Northrop. It's not very detailed but it very accurate as far as the shape. Two versions will be built, the first will look just like the one at the National Air and Space Museum, the other will be a high fidelity fully detailed model finished in Bare Metal Foil and will show all the panel lines and small details like I did with my 1/15th X-15. The -49 is about 51" wide and will come with a display stand or wall mount and shipping crate. The basic version should be under $3k, I need to get an idea of the crating cost. The high fidelity version will probably be in the $5k range. The XB-70 is also 1/40th scale about 54" long and will be nicely detailed and have v.g. wingtips in three positions. We were considering a working hinge but that would add a lot to the cost. The cost will be around $5k, and I will make a low detail version available for $3,500. Here's the -49 at the National Air and Space Museum. One other really neat model is a 1/50th X-30 NASP, 36" long 17" w/s. $1,500. |
