Yep, a great source of reference. I wonder if Russ will ever produce another edition?

And 4 distinct bidders all bid over $100.

Russ, do you have a couple boxes of those books in the attic?

Why did this book sell for so much?

This is common with out of print reference books. It's easy to say, "that's an insane price" for a book if you've had your own copy in your bookshelf since it came out. Try finding some of your books today and you'll be surprised.

Been looking for a copy of this myself for quite a while and haven't found ONE copy that was under 100 bucks...

I suggest you try Abebooks.com then where you can pick one up from Aspen Book Shop, Lilburn, GA for $28 + $4 shipping. Search for Russell Still. I picked one up from the same site this year for less than $20 dollars shipped to the UK. There are 2 others on there for $250 apiece which must be first editions, I guess.

My copy, now under armed guard, is soft cover, red with Gemini Titan [?] stack on front, and 'Second Edition' is printed directly on the cover, no need to look inside.

How different from first? Beats me, but it's a great book. Good short histories of each program for US and USSR, then extensive collector sections with photos on badges, covers, patches, astronaut signature examples...

Now, back in to the Helium chamber...

There are also three available at $75 each with "Farthest Reaches."

I'm driving over to Russ's house right now with my checkbook in tow and the hopes he hasn't seen this thread.

Beats me what super-secret version you’re looking at, but I can’t find a copy of it anywhere online for less than well over $100.

That site is very hard to navigate for a specific item and it took a while to find it.

My problem is that I have never seen the book before and space collecting isn't my primary hobby, so I don’t know if it's worth 75 clams with postage to me.

I picked up a "used" (but near new condition) 3rd edition on Amazon.com last May for $44 including shipping. If current supplies are such that someone wants $250 or whatever, my suggestion is just wait and another few copies will show up eventually at a more reasonable price.

Anyway, my guess is that this all also suggests that there's a market for a 4th edition.

Holy Shiite! If anybody wants one, I still have about a dozen brand new copies tucked away. $50 plus shipping. Heck, sell 'em on eBay and make a nice profit.

Ok, got a lot of emails about the available copies of Relics 3. I messed up. I was attempting to copy them into a separate folder but, in the process, somehow lost them. So, if you want a copy of the book, email me again at russell@goldsealflight.com. Looks like I only have 10 copies left.

Disregard. I found the emails.

Just got my copy today and I'm really looking forward to reading through it. I'm not an autograph collector but I did find those parts interesting anyway, aside from that.

All times are CT (US)
