John:It will be a shame if the Planetary Reports are scrapped. Have you considered donating them to a library or giving them to a space collector? Give them to a child to spike his/her interest in space. I also have a collection or accumulation of space publications - Space World, Planetary Report, Explorer, Astrophile, Astronomy, etc. I also have issues of Science Digest, Discover, Popular Science and other publications. I am disposing of the general science publications, but before I do that I am removing all space related articles. I am scanning every page of these articles and entering them in a file on my computer. They will eventually be copied to a CD. So far I have scanned 44 pages in full color. It is amazing to see all of these pages on my screen at one time. I can still use them for research when writing articles. As you know, I am also scanning all back issues of the Explorer of the IASP. There are 86 issues of this publication to scan. In addition I am scanning four catalogs produced by the IASP. This is an enormous project. So far I have scanned 320 pages (28 issues). Many of the issues from the beginning in 1971 are 8 to 12 pages long. Later issues are 24, 36 and some are 60 pages long. I hope that you will consider giving your space publications a suitable home where they will be appreciated. Bill York |
