In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the STS-45 mission, which carried Belgium's first astronaut Dirk Frimout in space, the entire crew will visit Belgium and give several lectures during Space Week 2012, Sept. 24-28: Programme here. |

We have never been to beautiful Belgium. STS-45 includes three of my favourite astronauts Bolden, Duffy and Foale... I feel a cheap Ryanair flight coming on! |

I may be missing something on the programme. Are there events within the week for the general public to attend? |

At least according to the website, while the two backup payload specialists will be there, Byron Lichtenberg will not. |

For all the opportunities I've had to meet astronauts, I'm jealous for times like this, when entire crews visit. |

Indeed the STS-45 crew was joined by other astronauts (e.g. Frank De Winne TMA-01 and TMA-15) and space artist Paul Van Hoeydonck (Apollo 15 "Fallen Astronaut" statuette on Moon).A great Space Week for Belgian and Dutch space fans with events in Brussels, Gent, Liege,...) |
