The United Nations in New York City held a program, aimed mostly at students, on the wonders of space research. Much was made of Charlie Bolden being the keynote speaker, but Sergei Volkov also was a speaker (Sergei Krikalev was scheduled to do so, but Volkov took his place.)

The event was webcast, with the video found here. The person in the front row wearing the gray jacket is me, and I was Tweeting from the event as well.
