On October 16, The Explorers Club will hold the 2008 Lowell Thomas Awards Dinner at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.

The Lowell Thomas Awards are presented by Rolex Watch U.S.A., Inc. and the President of The Explorers Club to those who have distinguished themselves in various fields of exploration.

This year's theme is "Exploring Earth from Above" and from what I am told, will include a number of astronauts (to be announced).

This is a black tie event and tickets are not inexpensive but for those interested in attending, contact SpaceRef's Keith Cowing, who is organizing a table.

(To avoid filling his inbox, please do not e-mail simply to ask which astronauts will be attending; Keith has said he will provide collectSPACE that information for Sightings when it is released.)
