Hall of Fame to induct Mir, Hubble, ISS and space shuttle astronauts quote:
The commander of the mission that deployed the Hubble Space Telescope; an astronaut who once set a U.S. men's record for time in space; the first life sciences mission commander; and the astronaut who led the first assembly mission to the International Space Station, are all to be honored this May as the 2008 class of inductees into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame.

About the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony:The public is invited to witness heroes honoring heroes at the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.
The Induction Ceremony is included with admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Special Induction weekend ticket packages are available for $70 plus tax for adults and $50 plus tax for children and include the following: - Two-day Admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and the U.S Astronaut Hall of Fame
- Reserved seating at the Induction Ceremony at 3:00 p.m.
- A special Lunch With the Astronauts on May 3 at 11:30 a.m.
- Commemorative souvenir poster featuring the 2008 Inductees
U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction weekend tickets are available by telephone at 321-449-4400 or online at kennedyspacecenter.com. Local accommodations are also available.

I met Blaha and had my picture taken with him at a KSC Astronaut Encounter in 2006. Nice guy. |

My wife and I have the good fortune of being able to attend the 2008 Astronaut Hall of Fame Ceremony. Any suggestions on a good hotel? Does anyone have any idea where the Astronauts like to stay? Thanks,Paul |

Regarding hotels, most visitors stay in either Titusville or the Cocoa-Beach area. Most of the major chains are represented. The Radisson Resort at the Port is popular and is often used by NASA for its own visitors.For their security, the hotel(s) where the astronauts stay is/are not made public. |

We will be there again this year, flying out on the 28 April for 2 weeks. Not getting to see a launch, but the chance to meet Ireland's first Astronaut (Bryan O'Conner) and Story Musgrave at Astronaut Encounter makes up for it. See you all cant wait...Eamonn and Siobhan |

KSC Visitor Center just added astronaut book signing and autographs for that Saturday and Sunday. Still waiting to hear that more people are coming down. How does a Saturday morning breakfast with cS members sound? |

I will be there for the gala on Friday and the induction/festivities on Saturday. I'm also sticking around for the Astronaut Training Experience on May 6th! |

If anyone has the energy after the Gala on Friday night lets meet up for a round at a local drinking establishment- something close to KSC- Shuttles or another. I will not be there on Saturday night but that is another night to do something. |

I think Rob can answer this better but the rollout of STS-124 is scheduled for the 3rd. It should be early enough not to effect the buses to the Saturn V Center but it could effect the bus tours to the shuttle viewing area and the Up Close tours. |

If Discovery's rollout proceeds as scheduled, then it will be completed before the Visitor Center opens on the 3rd and therefore shouldn't interfere with any of the tour stops. |

I'll be thinking of you guys as I'm flying out to Guam (garden spot of the universe!) for some submarine testing. Hope you have as much fun as I did in 2005! If you were there then, I was the guy in all white  . |

Please let me know if you are interested in meeting up on Friday at Shuttles. People can get a idea of who is doing what and when before the festuivities start. You will still have time to make it to the reception before the buses leave for the gala. |

Hi everyone looking forward to seeing you all. Arrived minus a case with our gala tickets in it. We are hoping to get replacement ones today. Hope to go to Shuttles on Friday at 4.30. Is that far from the KSC? Also Siobhan is wondering about her evening dress and Shuttles bar? Hope it will be ok to go dressed. Where is everyone staying? We looked at Days Inn. Eamonn & Siobhan |

A committee comprised of the earlier inductees, current and retired space program workers, historians, authors, educators and journalists voted to select the enshrinees. Astronauts were eligible if they had made their first flight no later than 1991 and had been retired for at least five years from the astronaut corps. Candidates were required to be U.S. citizens who were trained by NASA as either commanders, pilots or mission specialists and had made at least one orbit around the Earth. |

I just wanted to say that I was able to attend the AHOF induction ceremony this year. As usual, the ASF crew did everything up right. It really was a wonderful time. I got see to several friends at the show like Leon Ford, Bryan McKay, Tim Gagon, Steve Kaplan, Jerry Matulka and Ken Havekotte. It was a fantastic experience to meet several of the ASF scholarship recipients and hear about their work and their stories. One recipient told the audience that without the ASF scholarship, he would not have been able to attend college. I guess that is what it is all about. The actual ceremony was touching as the new inductees talked about their achievements and their families. It was an enjoyable weekend for a great cause. I would urge you to either donate any amount of money, large or small, or bid on one of the great astronaut experiences during their annual auction. So I want to thank Linn, Beth, Dee, Jen, Astrid, Daniel, Jacky and all the volunteers who worked extremely hard to put on a great show for a great cause. ------------------

A special great job and thanks to all at the ASF and Delaware North. It was an excellent, fun, insightful weekend of events. All your hard work paid off.I had this opportunity because of some very nice and generous people who made the Gala evening a night of laughs and enjoyment. Without you two, I wouldn't have met an astronaut scholar from Michigan, two lovely and fun ladies with a famous dad, a Kansas astronaut and a Giants fan (who thought of putting a NY Giants fan next to a a NE Patriot fan!). The event was AWESOME!It was great running into old friends like Bryan, Steve, Robert, Ben and Larry as well as meeting Eammon, Fred and their lovely wives. It's always great to share an experience like this with those who understand. Delaware North and the ASF hosted a first class event (as always). Kudos to everyone involved. Tim |
