In the past hour and a half, new Dir. of NASA Michael Griffin briefly addressed all the NASA centers & answered several questions from employees.

Of his coming term, Griffin said "Its going to be busy, its going to be hectic, but we will do it together." Referring ot the Moon & Mars initiative, Griffin said "We have some very difficult choices to make...We haven't been down this course for more than 30 years."

Asked about the reasons for the Space Initiative, he mentioned the great media interest in the polar quests 100 years ago, among other examples, and he said that exploration is in the human spirit.

He invoked "the well worn phrase, to boldly go." But he seems a very personable and soft spoken man, and he asked everyone to address him as Mike or Michael as they prefer.

ON NASA-TV THROUGH THE NEAR TERM, highlights of Griffin's recent appearances will be shown in the Video File features. And through the weekend wil be shown a pre-launch highlights clip --which seems a little more thourough than usual-- for tonight's EXPEDITION 11 launch. It shows the Soyuz standing up in the "Russian VAB" with the crew going in to inspect it.The attaching of the escape tower is shown.

ON KSC VIDEO FEED today, the fueling test for the Shuttle is being shown, with NASA-TV also showing Discovery on the pad at times.

FloridaToday.com has already started a launch jounal for Expedition 11, and they have a rollout gallery. They had published, for THE FINAL TITAN LAUNCH, a date of April 18th, but in the last hour or so it was retracted.

Griffin is on right now again ( 3:15 est ) on nasa-tv.
Forgot to, but I always like to give link for non-regulars who might be surfing by.

KSC video streaming is on the web at: http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/shuttle/countdown/video/
NASA TV is live on the web (click wmv or real ), at: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html
Video File is on NASA TV at 6 & 10 a.m., Noon, 3, 6, and 10 p.m., and midnight EST.

P.S. Anyone on the space coast who wants A GOOD LOOK AT DISCOVERY, make the drive out to Canaveral Nat'l Seashore today, with the RSS that usually conceals the orbiter fully retracted! I wasn't clear about this, but just called & THE PARK IS OPEN during today's fuel up test.
