Just a last minute heads-up to all who live near Cologne, Germany. Tomorrow is the day!! Tickets are still on sale, and it is shaping up to be one hell of an event. The local TV stations are already showing heaps of Space related material. It's being promoted as the largest meeting of astronauts in Germany!! See you all there! Dwight |

Hi, yes, I think, it was the last astronaut meeting in Germany since ASE congress in Berlin 1991. Have been there last night, and beside the fact that autographs where hard to obtain, let me just mention one man who held a very much appreciated speech: John Young Ulf Merbold introduced him as "his commander" and as an idol of a whole generation of astronauts. What a night, especially the live uplink to ISS, the crowd cheering at them and Padalka and Fincke waving back... Tell you more soon. Chris |

It was a great night! Having Sigmund Jaehn walk past and then subsequently sign my A16 earth photo (then followed by several other ESA astronauts) was a great surprise. Catching up with fellow CSers was great. A pity I cant go to the open day today and tomorrow. I did however videotape the entire uplink to the ISS (well prior to the uplink), the entire John Young talk, and a nice few minutes of the entire asto-lineup at the end of the show. The PC is currently working on the DVD. I personally found the uplink the best, and I work with satellite comms each day. Still humbles me every time a connection is established. Couldnt help but think that if the Australian tracking stations were looking after the feed, there would be no need to worry. (cough :-) ) Dwight |
