Gilchrist Foundation Release:

Titusville, FL – Shuttle Astronaut, Samuel Durrance, will host the Launching Dreams through Education dinner on Friday, April 16, 2004 at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to benefit the Gilchrist Educational Foundation

Guests will enjoy an exquisite dinner as Durrance recounts the path that led him to his career and his experience as an astronaut. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. Standard tickets are just $60 each. VIP tickets are $100 each and include a reception and memory photo with Durrance. Black tie optional

The Gilchrist Educational Foundation is a nonprofit, 501 (c)(3) organization founded in memory of Bob and Peggy Gilchrist, who were both teachers in Brevard County for over twenty years. The Gilchrists’ goal was to ensure that every student had the opportunity to attain the best education possible regardless of income status. The Foundation realizes their dream, as it provides scholarships and resources for private education in North Brevard, including science labs, playgrounds and scholarships to financially challenged families. Dr. Samuel Durrance has logged over 615 hours in space as a member of the crew of Space Shuttle Columbia for the STS-35 and Space Shuttle Endeavour for the STS-67 missions.
