TITUSVILLE -- Five months ago, a popular nonprofit space museum seemed to be rocketing toward a black hole that would force its doors closed.
The U.S. Spacewalk of Fame Museum was ordered to leave its home at the Miracle City Mall by Jan. 1, leaving few affordable locations with enough room to display its thousands of space memorabilia on loan from former space workers and astronauts.
But museum officials were able to land a deal that enabled them to move into Searstown Mall, where volunteers are completing the transition and preparing for a grand opening on Nov. 22. Signs bearing the museum's logo haven't been placed in front of the new location yet, but the facility opened to the public Sept. 8.
