I absolutly have to talk to you about this! This is a play and upcoming movie which puts our hobby into a metaphorical artform of the highest standards.

You might have heard about Quebecois theater creator Robert Lepage, who has among other things been involved with staging rock shows such as Peter Gabriel's. His company launched a play three years ago, named "La face cachée de la lune", "The Far Side of the Moon", which have been touring cities across America and Europe. Maybe a few of you saw it? I didn't find out about it while I was touring with Cirque du Soleil, but when the play came back to Montreal last spring I saw it three times!

It's on its way to the UK this fall, and also Lyon, France. Plus, it's about to come out in movie. I've asked for details from the distributors of the upcoming movie, which I'll pass along as I get them.

I'll refer you to the reviews found at http://www.exmachina.qc.ca/ENGLISH/ex.asp?page=Lune , click “Press” . L.A. Times’ brings the point home quite well. Space history evoqued here turns around Leonov’s space walk, his country’s failed bid as the first moonwalk, his painting, around Tsiolkowsky, around SETI and in general around the space race up to ASTP.

I was so touched about how the main character speaks of the intimate nature of this passion of space history. If "La face cachée de la lune", "The Far Side of the Moon" comes your way, jump at the opportunity to take out your spouse and children, and go enjoy it.

The very inventive portrayal of Leonov’s thetered space swim itself is worth a thousand goose bumps…
