I've recently started to gather a few Telstar First Day Covers (FDCs) into my collection.

I know of the following Telstar 1 stamps:

  • France FDC 29 Sep 62
  • Andorra FDC 29 Sep 62
  • St.Pierre & Miquelon FDC 22 Nov 62
  • Mali (two stamps) FDC 24 Nov 62
  • New Caledonia FDC 4 Dec 62
  • Comoro Is. FDC 5 Dec 62
  • French Polynesia FDC 5 Dec 62
  • Wallis & Futuna FDC 5 Dec 62
  • T.A.A.F FDC 24 Dec 62
  • Cameroun (four stamps) FDC 9 Feb 63
  • French Somali Coast FDC 9 Feb 63
  • Mauritania FDC 7 Oct 63
  • Niger FDC 11 Feb 64
  • Monaco FDC 17 May 65
Is anybody aware of any I have missed from my list?

Please, check the superb webpage Un-manned Satellite (or Spacecraft) Philately held by Don Hilger and Garry Toth.

It is a very useful and extensive compilation of stamps issued worldwide as well as space covers and first day covers.

There, as in the major part of web researches, press Crtl+F and in the box you will see on the screen write the word you are searching for; "Telstar" in this case. One list it for covers and another one for stamps.

I hope this link helps you now and in this and upcoming space projects.

Thank you Antoni, but unfortunately I only have a mobile phone and although I'm planning on getting a computer soon, I cannot as yet follow your advice...

I am also aware of Don Hilger and Garry Toth's excellent website (and, like yourself, I have contributed images to it). However, as comprehensive as it is, it is not a definitive listing.

All times are CT (US)
