I've seen USS Randolph covers cancelled for the recovery of Gus Grissom on July 21, 1961 with the name of the ship at the top of the cancellation and at the bottom of the cancellation. Looking at examples of covers that I believe are genuine USS Randolph covers cancelled on July 21, 1961 all of the cancellations have the ship name on the bottom of the cancel.
The fake 'Riser' covers for the recovery of Gus Grissom have the name of the ship on the top of the cancellation and they are on embossed covers. I have also seen USS Randolph covers cancelled on July 21, 1961 with the name at the top of the cancellation on non-embossed covers (covers that used a stamp). My questions are:
Did the USS Randolph have two different hand cancels with the ship name at the top and bottom of the cancellation that were used on July 21, 1961?
Did Riser make fake MR-4 USS Randolph covers using non-embossed (stamped) covers?

I did see the email with the picture of the cover. Thank you.
After I posted the message I recalled that Ross Smith has an excellent website with information on recovery ship covers and it shows the two different versions of the USS Randolph hand cancel used for the recovery of Gus Grissom on July 21, 1961.

I believe this is a genuine MR-4 cancel with an autopen signature.
