I personally own a standard numbered Buran almost flown cover, but I was wondering on the destiny of the unnumbered maybe flown 100.

What was the destiny of these "not for sale" covers? Why the stamp "not for sale"? What could be the value of these mysterious covers?

I believe there were no covers flown on the Buran flight Russia wanted to fly covers but did not.

John, thanks for the kind reply.

I've found the story here. Even if thinking about that they didn't flew, anyone knows why 100 were unnumbered and "not for sale" and to whom these were handed? Thanks!

Since about 1990 I am trying to find out, whether any covers flew on board of Buran. No one of the involved Russians I met ever confirmed that any covers flew on board of Buran. Thus I did not refer to this claim in my book on Pioneer Rocket Mail & Space Mail.

By the side: "Not for Sale" covers exist of the two official Kniga/Roskosmos items which were sent to MIR space station. As for Buran, I have one of those covers with the number 00000 which also was said to be flown.

All times are CT (US)
