Although it is not the subject of my interest, recently I got this cover for Sikhote-Alin meteorite that fall in 1947. According to the estimations it was around 100 tons, from which 70 tons survived the atmosphere effect. This was one of the major meteorite events in the modern history. The cover marked by the International Geophysical Year postmarks in 1958. In 15.2.2016 – there was a third anniversary of Chelyabinsk meteorite event and Russian post issues a special postmark. I will show it when get the covers and cards – in a month or so. Another meteorite event from my stock – a cover from Romania – I really don’t know, why I have it, but it looks nice. |
