Between 7/1/1931 and 7/4/1931 a model airplane rocket tournament took place at Struthers, Ohio. On 7/1/1931 "experimental rocket flights" were made between Struthers and Poland and return. It seems, a model airplane had 4th of July rockets attached. However, we do not know, what actually happened.
Probably the local press reported on this event. Which local newspapers and magazines of this time still do exist?
A Mr. Opsitnik signed as president of the Aero Club. Does this aero club still exist? Probably they have some information in their files. Robert Williamson signed as "chief pilot". Does anybody know anything about one of them? Can any cS member identify the other signatures at this cover?
Any information and research on this subject is highly welcome.
