Were there any consequences for Hermann Sieger after the Apollo 15 cover story broke? Did his reputation and business suffer? From my understanding of the events, he started selling the covers much earlier than had been agreed upon, which helped damage the careers of some astronauts. Yet he seems to have remained a major figure in the philatelic world. I'm just curious to know if the consensus (at the time, and today) was that what he did was wrong. For all I know there were good explanation for what I've heard - please let me know!
All of those small stamp sheets were signed by astronauts such as Armstrong just before the Apollo 15 covers started selling, correct? He didn't have any signing deals with astronauts after that, did he?

Steve- I have a copy of the APS Journal from October and November 1972 which had a series of articles on all facets of the Apollo-15 cover scandal. The agreement said that nothing could be done with the covers no commercialization or advertising until the end of the Apollo program. When Seiger sold the covers in 1971, the Apollo-15 crew wanted nothing to do with them. Email me offline if you want a copy of the articles.
