I've just put online the new look version of my Crew Patches site: CrewPatches.comThe most obvious difference with the site is the change from a black background to white. This is something I've wanted to do for a while but never got around to. More importantly, the content has changed to provide more consistent information for each patch that's listed. Instead of vague descriptions of crew patches and very limited information on others in the gallery section I've introduced a standard format for everything, although crew patches still get a little more space. The beta cloth patches have been moved to a single page, so the mission pages now apply only to embroidered patches. The old buttons that made up the menu at the top of the original site have now been moved to a full page menu accessed by clicking on the Embroidered Patches tab in the top menu bar. It may take you a little while to get used to but the new format will allow me to easily expand the site in future. I've also added a new page covering Contractor patches (Grumman and North American Rockwell for now) and one covering some of the individual Project patches. These can be found on the Embroidered Patches full page menu mentioned above. Finally, I've moved the content of the original Lion Brothers Space Patches mini site into CrewPatches.com. The pages remain basically the same (apart from the color scheme) and can be accessed by the last button in the top menu bar. Eventually I may integrate this stuff in a neater way but for now I just wanted to combine my two patch pages into one. Let me know if you find any problems, and please note as ever that the site looks much better in Firefox than Internet Explorer. |

Chris, congratulations for this new look of your great Crew Patch site. I was and am a friend of a light(er) background.I am using the Firefox browser and it works well. This new site was worth all your work. Thanks. |

Chris, I like the new design as well, but in my Safari browser there is a problem with the navigation headers. The rollover text for "Home", "What is a Crew Patch?", "Embroidered Patches", etc. appear OVER the main "Crew Patches" logo, which makes it very difficult to read. Having worked on website design several times myself, this is definitely a browser issue - the layout looks perfect in some browsers and not others. So in Safari 5.0.3 at least it is an issue. Usually your HTML software allows you to view the page as it would appear in various browsers so that you can tweak the code so it works across all the browser platforms. |

For what it's worth, I just tested the site in Safari 5.0.3 (Mac) and do not see the same problem. |

Not being posh I can report that the site works fine with Internet Explorer 7. However, can I suggest that a link back to the top of the page be included as well as the forward and back buttons. Well done Chris. |

If you select "Embroidered Patches" on top of each page you will get back to the selection page. Compared with the older design this means one additional selection but it's OK with me and will help Chris to work with the overall design much more easier. |

I understand what moorouge is saying - at the bottom of the page there should be a link to jump back up to the top. It's something I thought of doing and then forgot, so I'll work on that.In terms of browser support I use Firefox myself and code for that primarily, but check that it's usable in IE. I don't have Safari so would have trouble checking that. I don't use any program to create my sites, I just write HTML/CSS directly in Notepad, which means I don't have any browser preview facility. |

Chris the site looks awesome, but it would be nice to have a section for the Ascan patches. They are also "rare" patches and there are a few differences between the originals and the replicas being made. |

Excellent work Chris. This comprehensive resource just gets better and better and is probably now the most definitive guide to NASA and associated patches on the web. It has certainly enabled me to buy more confidently. Just wish I didn't have to stay up so late/get up so early for those US ebay auctions! |

Just added a new page to the site dicussing a few of the terms commonly used when referring to embroidered patches. You can find the link to the Patch Terminology page above the mission specific tabs on the embroidered patch menu page. It's probably nothing new for most patch collectors but will be useful to beginners and might be helpful as a place to define terms that are open to discussion. |

A very nice addition! Caught one error in the patch manufacturers list: Randy Wagner (the GOOD Randy) was Eagle One Aerospace first, when he passed away, his wife continued the business for some time as Cargo Bay Emblems. |

Chris, you might also like to check the Apollo 1 screen. The thumbnail 'patch_as1_ab_thumb' looks and links correctly but 'patch_as1_unk1_thumb' looks like a dupe of 'patch_as1_ab_thumb' yet links to a different image. Sometimes I think I really do need to get a life! |

Thanks. I'll try to get those two items corrected later today. |

For those people who use Internet Explorer - if you've upgrade to IE9 you should be able to view the CrewPatches website as it's meant to look now - with rounded corners, drop shadows, and all those little touches.Take a look now (hit reload if necessary) and you should see the difference. Those people who were using recent versions of FireFox, Opera etc should already have been able to see these features. |
