Yes, but it's not really an opportunity missed that they are similar, more a conscious decision with ESA to follow a consistent series.

With ATV-1, there were several logos used by various parties in different functions, which as you can understand caused at best a kind of identity crisis. Now this is in hand, the identity of these missions is being handled more consistently.

With many European countries and industries being involved, and it not being a manned mission, it's not quite as easy as you might think!
