Space Country Souvenirs (SCS) formerly of Lompoc Ca. near Vandenberg, is now in Santa Maria Ca. with new owners. Their website is still the same.

I contacted Michelle Vander Meulen recently and she stated that they have image files for every patch that SCS produced since 1993. The minimum is 50 patches. I would love to see pics of all the space and missile patches that they produced over the years. Does anyone think that there would be a large enough market for that many patches? I am especially interested in the 392nd Vandenberg Marvin the Martian patch.

Mark,

Do they plan to resume the sale of patches or are they just doing custom work? Any idea which patches are in their collection?

Thanks.

SCS is just doing custom work. I don't know yet what images they have. The patch minimum is 50.

My relationship with them is that, although they are doing custom work only, just ask SCS if they have what you want in their inventory.

When they were in Lompoc, I did visit their shop and made acquaintance with Harry, who has since retired and was able to provide me with valuable information on patches, patch traders, and what to look for in patch collecting. Because of him, I was able to get a STS-61E patch that he said the shop only produced approximately 2000 for NASA gift distributors. I find their quality of patches to be unmatched by any producer today.

Just ask SCS if they have what you want in their archives; all they can do is say no.

If you were to decide to reproduce any of the patches from SCS, please mark them as reproductions as they are not directly ordered by the squadron.

Part of the fun of this hobby is the thrill of finding a patch you are seeking, anyone can just get the artwork and have them made, that in my opinion is contrary to the "fun" of this hobby.

Also, you cannot reproduce the 392TRS Marvin the Martian patch as it is copyrighted and Michelle at SCS will not produce that patch without written authorization from the squadron and Warner Brothers.

if you are interested in getting that patch, write the squadron directly, they sell them (or the latest version of it) for $5.00 each.

All times are CT (US)
