I recently picked this up. The legs span about 4.5". It is metal with a light chrome coating. It is quite substantial. It is too big to be a piece from a board game of this era as far as I can tell. There are no marking at all on it.

Looks like it is loosely based on a Surveyor spacecraft.

It is the nut that held a glass light shade for a ceiling mounted light. The glass shade was the half of the moon with some labels.

Great detective work. So the lander sat off-set on the globe, nice piece. I'd love to find one of those light fixtures for myself!!!

That is a cool piece that could only have come from the 60s. I'd like to have one also.
