Does anyone have this Model/lamp. Disney is selling it for $49.00, it is a good value. It can be found at the Disneystore.com site |

I have one, which was a gift for last year's holidays. Its a great conversation starter and makes for a nice compliment to a rocket model collection... |

Hello....I have one as well and it truly is a most attractive item. The sign is made of translucent painted glass and backlit . The rocket also lights up in the cockpit area. I only wish I could have gotten mine for the Disney Store selling price. I would recommend this item highly....a VERY NICE item !!....Donald |

Hi fellow CollectSpace enthusiastsWhen I read this post about the Tomorrowland Moonliner I just had to have it and I was lucky enough to purchase one from Disney a couple of days ago to be shipped to me here in the UK. I have the required stepdown transformers to convert 240v UK to 110/120v US as I currently own a couple of Pioneer Reel to Reel Tape Decks that were orginally sold in the USA. I would however be very grateful if Robert or any forum members in the USA could help me out with some information about the Type B 7 watt bulb that's not included with the item Does Type B refer to the shape of the bulb or the type of connection to the bulb holder? Here in the UK this can be Bayonet, Miniature bayonet, Edison Screw, or Miniature edison screw I've had a look at the GE site and seen as bulb listed that might be the correct type. It looks like what here in the UK would be called a chandelier type bulb, shaped to resemble a candle somewhat. Having identified the correct bulb, my next job will be finding a supplier willing to ship a couple over as I probably will not be able to source any here in the UK. I assume the LED / Adaptor referred to in the item description IS included? Any model builder who like me loves the retro look of the Moonliner will be interested in the Atomiv City version about to be released anytime now. 1:24 scale Last price stated $190 / $210 depending on version + S/H Details can be accessed via http://p197.ezboard.com/fatomiccityfrm60 Hope this is of interest and thanks in advance for any info you can let me have on the Type B bulb ------------------ Peter Kemp Chelmsford UK |

I wish I could have gotten mine from the Disney Store too. After this thread was posted I checked the disneyshopping.com webpage and I ordered one of these Tomorrowland Rockets. It arrived a few days later but when I opened the box I was shocked to see a Mickey Snow Globe and not a Moonliner Rocket. I was even more shocked when I checked disneyshopping.com and found the Moonliner rockets had sold out. I called the store and they told me the usual "sorry" story. I really feel that the Moonliner Rocket sold out before I ordered mine and they simply sent me this snow globe hoping I would keep it. The billing was for the rocket but that was not what they sent. I checked e-bay and there were two listed but I did not get one. Within two days both of those had sold for a buy it now price. Less than a week later another showed up and I purchased it at the buy it now price which was almost twice the price that I paid at the disneyshopping.com for the one they never sent. A few days later another showed up on e-bay for a five dollars more than I paid and it was purchased at the buy it now price. There is one more still listed on e-bay in a store but it is for an even higher price. I checked Wal Mart for a type B 7 watt bulb but they did not have one. Just this morning I went to an electrical supply store and they told me they had a type B 15 watt. They thought that might produce too much heat. They did have a type C 7 watt. They explained that the difference between a type B and C was not the screw in socket but the length of the glass portion of the bulb. I purchased a type C 7 watt but the Moonliner display is now wrapped and setting under the Christmas tree waiting to surprise me next week. After I open the package I will try this bulb and see how it works. What type of bulb are you guys using in your Moonliner displays? Since I purchased this display I have been reading up on the history of the ride. http://www.yesterland.com/moonrocket.html Can anyone add to this history? Was there ever a version of this ride at Disneyworld in Orlando? The interior of the ride seems to be close to the Alien Encounter and Stitch's Great Escape ride. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6632108906 What happened to the original 80 foot tall Moonliner Rocket? I know there is a 40 foot tall replica on the TWA Headquarters building in Kansas City. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWA_Corporate_Headquarters%27_Building Mike Myer Humboldt KS [Edited by mdmyer (December 18, 2006).] |

Further to my original post, like Mike (mdmyer), my dealings with Disney were less than satisfactory. I thought I had purchased the Moonliner online and received an email confirming my order. It also stated that in the event of supply problems I would receive a further email within 24 hrs. 48 hrs later with no email from Disney I just happened to check my account on their site to discover the entry “Not Shipped” Order Status “Closed” I rang Customer Services from the UK and was greeted with a message informing me that due to the high volume of calls I could be waiting at least 20 minutes before I could speak with somebody. However I eventually did get to speak to a customer services advisor and was told that my order had not been processed, they couldn’t give reason and as Mike was told, they had sold out of the Moonliner. So that was the end of that. I’m one of the people who bought a “Buy It Now” examples listed on eBay, but I have to go lie down in a darkened room if I think about what I paid for it plus shipping and that’s before HM Revenue and Customs and Royal Mail add their charges. I week or so later I managed to pick up another one for much nearer the Disney price which I’m putting away in case I blow up the first trying to get it to operate on UK voltage. Can’t find many electrical suppliers in the USA willing to ship light bulbs internationally. So, once the correct bulb has been identified if I have problems perhaps a kind fellow CollectSpace member with a PayPal account might be willing to help me out if I get stuck?

Peter....I had one of those lamps but no longer. As I recall they took a simple "night light" bulb that comes usually in 3 packs here in the States. As far as matching U.S. electrical current with that of the U.K. I havent a clue. BTW....Say hello to the Queen !! Merry Christmas....Donald |

Hello Donald and Mike Thank you for your very helpful replies and I hope you, Robert and all other CollectSpace forum members all over the world are enjoying a peaceful holiday. Neither Moonliner lamp has yet been delivered to me as I expect they are caught up in the Christmas post backlog. Donald, I’ve seen the term night-light bulb on electrical suppliers’ websites in the US. In the UK a night-light is often used to describe a small round candle that’s used to give room, often the bathroom, a romantic setting! I’ve already got a good step down transformer to provide a 110 / 120v supply for the lamp so that should not be a problem. Donald, will do re the Queen. When I was working full time in the government service I use to visit Buckingham Palace quite often in connection with my job. Got quite a buzz driving through the main gates across the parade ground where they hold the Changing of the Guard, into the inner quadrangle. Only got to see the Queen close up once though; she walked by on her way to meet some dignitary or other and the other officials with me waiting to go into a meeting were quickly ushered behind a screen in case the sight of us all offended the royal eyes! Mike, thanks very much for offering to help me out with the supply of the correct bulbs; I really appreciate your help in this respect and I look forward to hearing from you when you have got your lamp working. Best Wishes Peter Chelmsford UNITED KINGDOM |

Hello Peter, You should have received an E-mail from me by now about my choice of a Type C 7 Watt bulb. If not please let me know and I will re-send it. Mike Myer Humboldt KS |

Hello MikeThanks for your further post. I've received your email and replied directly. Sorry for the delay,I was away from home for a few days over the holiday. One of the Moonliner Lamps I was expecting was delivered yesterday. Have started to unpack it and am now sorting out the correct type of step-down transformer as I see that the lamp is fitted with a two prong polarised plug, slightly different to the design fitted to my US model Pioneer Reel to Reel Tape Deck. This is not a problem as a local electrical wholesaler has the type I need in stock at a good price. Best Wishes Peter Chelmsford UNITED KINGDOM |

Sounds great Peter. I have purchased the amount of bulbs that you requested and I am going to see if I can get them in the mail today. I noticed that our postal system will be closed Monday for New Years and Tuesday as a day of remembrance for President Ford.I will send you an e-mail and let you know if I was able to get them to the post office today.
