I'm hoping that someone can help me identify the item below. It looks like a scoop but is very heavy.

I got it from a former NASA employee (now deceased) who acquired many nice and top end items, some flown and some parts of the Apollo capsules. Most of his items were Mercury, Gemini and Apollo items.

His grandson recently found this in a bag of his with three other nice NASA items (a Beta cloth bag, a PPK kit, Beta cloth patches) but because of its weight I have no idea what it would be used for.
