Pretty nice find, two complete MOL suits. By odd coincidence I recently found three original mint condition Hamilton Standard manuals regarding the care, storage and maintenance of the MOL suits. Maybe I should get in touch? I thought the article raised an issue of possible interest to hardware collectors. The MOL program was paid for by the USAF and the suits were found in a former USAF facility, yet it seems NASA asserts ownership. I'd be interested to understand the circumstances better, particularly as NASA 'donated' one of these suits to the Smithsonian. Given that it seems to have been 'lost' at the time I find this slightly worrying. Do NASA make a habit of donating items in their inventory that they can't find a scrap record for, regardless of whether they know the item's whereabouts? Cheers, Matt ------------------ www.spaceracemuseum.com |

It appears the general timeline for these suits are as follows:USAF --> NASA --> Smithsonian --> NASA (on loan) --> lost in the room --> found in the room. As to what years this occured, I do not have the details. | |
