About to start a build of the Atomic City 1/12 Mercury capsule model. Built one as a kid years ago but recently picked up another and wanted to go all out on it.

Going to install interior lights into it but just wondering if anyone knows where any interior lights were inside the capsule? Or any resource material/ pictures showing them?

Done a little snoop around of Google Images but so dang busy inside the capsule I be missing them. Any help appreciated!

There were two small Fluorescent lights about 12 inches long with a red cover that could be slid into place. They are visible in the Smithsonian 360 movies of John Glenn's capsule.

See the Mercury Familiarization Manual for more details.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe one of the cabin light fixtures can be seen circled here. The other assembly was on the opposite wall, near the hatch.

Yes, that device and its location matches the description and illustration of the lighting system given in the Haynes Mercury Owner's Workshop Manual on pages 69 and 127.

All times are CT (US)
