My second post in all these years, although I have read every other post from everyone else...Please be kind...

I am trying to research the nas contract numbers on dozens of flown items...Yes, there are more of us out there than you think...

An example...

nas8 11799...a 2 foot tall cylinder marked 1965 MARSHALL SPACE FLIGHT CENTER recovery beacon with parachute and float bag made by Space Corp. of Dallas, TX.
Other company names inside the beacon are Chrysler and Simmons Precision Products of Tarrytown, NY.

Does anyone have experience in researching the nas contract numbers ?

Also, what programs were nas5 and nas8...

I own about every nas9-150 (CM) and nas9-1100 (LEM) part to build my own moon rocket...
I am halfway there...Think about that...

Thank you for any help...

1. For starters, recommend you become familiar with the NASA Procurement Management System (iNPMS) http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/npms/npms.cgi
It will allow you to execute a query by Contract numbers or adhoc however their online database is currently limited to contracts either active or initiated subsequent to approximately 1996. Its unclear if they will be supporting archival access to earlier data in the future.

2. Contract number prefix's generally refer to the specific procurement site/facility that initiated the contract. NAS8-XXXXX an MSFC contract, NAS5-XXXXX a GSFC contract vehicle.

3. Here are a few contract numbers that may assist...

NAS 9-5829 (ALSEP) - BENDIX?

NAS9-13100 (ATSP) - ROCKWELL?

NAS 9-1100 (LEM) - GRUMMAN
