Does anyone have the text of the NASA press release (72-189) "Articles Carried on Manned Space Flights" released Sept. 15, 1972?

This was released following the Apollo 15 unauthorized covers 'scandal'. I can't find it online anywhere...

Not what you're after, but a very interesting anecdotal article on the same subject.

I have an original of that release from NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Do you need to see the entire release or just certain pages, or, can I help you on a specific question or two that perhaps I can answer from the release?

Thanks for the reply Ken. I was really interested in reading the whole thing but I guess if it's going to published here soon I can wait.

Do you have an ETA on that Rob?

Thanks Rob and Bernie.

From the date of the release I guess the 8oz/12 item restriction on PPK contents would only have applied to Apollo 17 (and later flights).

It must have been sad for them that they could only carry 0.5lbs per person when the previous crews had carried 11 times as much!

If Apollo 17 was not "grandfathered" into the previous policy, then it would appear that a majority of the weight permitted on earlier missions was reassigned to the OFK, as per this document.

All times are CT (US)
