What ever happened to the little silver communion set used by Buzz Aldrin on the Moon's surface after Neil landed the Eagle? Did it end up in the Smithsonian, the Vatican, etc.? Maybe Buzz still has it. I would think a flown item of this significance would be priceless. A "nosey" Texan wants to know (me).------------------ Wayne Edelman |

I'm not sure about this, but I believe I recall reading that his communion set ended up back at the church he attended while living in Houston. I'm sure it's considered a treasured relic there, and worth a mint both as a space & religious artifact. |

I think he talked about that in a '69 or '70 issue of "Guidepost". I do know that David Frohman has gone to the church where they have it and took some pictures. He has or had what was proported to be the beta cloth bag that Buzz carried the communiun stuff in. He may also have had a bible or something. Give him a call for more info. |

The chalas is in the Baptist church in Webster, TX. It is mounted on a small plastic cube as a stand. The church has been advised to keep it in a safe place, but it can be seen at request. |

I did talk with Dave Frohman about the chalas that Buss Aldrin took on Apollo 11. I made a mistake. The chalas is at the Webster Presbyterian Church in Webster, TX. Dave took photos of it when he was doing the provenience on the PPK that Buzz used to take the communion set to the Moon. It is an amazing piece of history being connected to the first communion performed on another world. Dave also told me that he has a St. James version of the bible done on microfilm that was flown to the Moon aboard Apollo 14. |

I live in Clear Lake and work at JSC. The communion set is in the possession of a Presbyterian church in the area. I have a printed invitation from a few years ago to attend a service where the set was going to be used. It is not lost or collecting dust somewhere. If memory serves me, the service using the communion set was in July to commemorate the Apollo 11 landing. |
