A long time friend has worked on the SRB's for many years. He is being transferred as the program has wound down. Apparently they were cleaning up and tossing out some un-documented scraps. He knows I'm a big fan and 'rescued' some pieces for me. While its not 'officially' documented, he sent along a nice note with a detailed description of the goodies. He also included a copy of the drawing specs for the pieces. This is a piece of an SRB parachute that he says has flown at least once. The soot marks are from the SRB nozzle pyro seperation. The fact there is a repair with the soot marks, he believes it has flown at least twice. He didn't say any more about this piece. I really don't care that there is no further documentation. It's priceless to me and I am extremely grateful to have it. | |
