Naval Aviation Museum Foundation release Apollo 11 50th Anniversary CoinPlease join the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. We are honoring Commander Neil Armstrong, a Naval Aviator and the first human to set foot on the Moon. In honor of the Apollo 11 mission and all contributions that Naval Aviation has made to the space program, we have cast a special commemorative anniversary coin that we will send you with a minimum donation of $25.00. |

Vanguard release Navy Apollo 11 50th AnniversaryTo commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, we have created a special edition coin ($19.69). The two tone finish of antique gold and silver are offset brilliantly by the black matte enamel fill. The obverse side features a close up of Buzz Aldrin in his spacesuit with the reflection of the Earth in his helmet visor. The reverse side feature the lunar lander sitting on the moon flanked by the dates of the anniversary. This special shaped 2-inch coin would be an excellent addition to any collection. |

Nice designs! That said, is it just me, or have many of these 50th anniversary commemoratives come way too late to the party? |

I quite like the NAMF coin but I'm surprised that there hasn't been an official NASA/Winco 50th anniversary coin (unless I've missed it?), especially given that they released a range of 40th anniversary coins. |

These were available to those who visited the museum or ordered online during the anniversary week. News of their availability though, came by word of mouth. quote: Originally posted by NeilPearson: ...unless I've missed it?
There has been no news yet to share from Winco, but they will be an exhibitor at Spacefest in August, so perhaps something will be announced there. |

I wanted to share an update on the NAMF coins. I just spoke to the foundation's office and they had such an overwhelming success and some difficulties with the post office that created a delay, but they have resolved the issues and sent them out yesterday/today. I just had to check the status since I placed an order a few weeks ago. |

Yes, my coin is still missing in action also but it is as Jason (JBoe) describes (a big backlog). I received an email late yesterday (Aug. 12) saying that NAMF sent out a mailing that very day, so stay tuned. |
