I have a medallion commemorating the landing of Apollo 11. Only thing is I do not have any information about the minting itself. I checked some sites but no luck. One side has the inscription "We came in peace for all mankind" and the date with a picture of the two astronauts working on the surface, the other side has the likeness of all three astronauts with their names above and Apollo 11 below. Scans available. |

In the early 70's I was given two commemorative medals celebrating the first man on the moon. I understand that these medals are made from Platinum and they should have some value? First there is a square looking medal depicting the moon landing with words: Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon July 1969 AD. We came in peace for all mankind. And is "signed" by Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, Edwin Aldrin and Richard Nixon. On the back it says: Reines Platin 999.9 HHI have another rectangular medal which looks like a replica of a 10 cents aimail stamp with the wording: "First man on the moon". Again on the back it says: 999.9 HH Any assistance with identifying these would be greatly appreciated. Happy to forward a scan of the medals. Werner Stalbohm anwer@ozemail.com.au | |
