I have an Apollo 8 MFA medallion that has some sort of glue residue on the back. I think it is from some double-sided sticky tape. What is the best method to get that off? I don't want to apply something that might have a reaction with the medallion and discolor it or something. Thank you in advance for your advice!

Try putting the coin in the refrigerator for a few hours and then gently rubbing the residue off - often chilling it down like that makes it easier to remove before you have to resort to chemicals.

If chilling doesn't work try Goo Gone. I've had very good luck with it removing stickers off dust jackets as well as hard surface items like your MFA. If you get any discoloring from cleaning you can try lathering up some soft soap in your hands then gently rub the metal. It works well n handled none pristine surfaces.

Assuming the adhesive is solvent-based and not water-based, you could try lighter-fuel (as in Zippo lighter). Failing that, if you know a friendly industrial chemist, you could ask him/her to try toluene. One or other of these should be successful. Be aware though that any painted surfaces could be affected (and both solvents are highly flammable).
