For those of you interested, the Robbins Company name has officially been renamed to TharpeRobbins. The company was actually sold a few years back. I believe that the first medals to be struck under this new name are the STS 121, STS 115 and STS 116 medals.

I am not sure whether we should call this the end of the Robbins era or just let it continue, or whether we should now refer to the new medals as Tharpes or TharpeRobbins?

Any thoughts from the crowd?

Same company, slightly different name. Why confuse the issue? Keep calling them Robbins medallions.

Seeing as though the astronauts themselves don't refer to them as "Robbins" — many of the shuttle astronauts are unaware of who or what Robbins is and refers to the medals as simply "astronaut medallions" — the moniker is a nickname coined (no pun intended) by collectors and has come to apply more to the type of medal rather than to their manufacturer.
