oly | Does anybody have a link to or good photos of space shuttle air data probes in the deployed position that give good detail? I have found photos of the probe assembly removed and good detail of installed units stowed showing thermal protection area but have failed to find photos of deployed units? |
OV-105 | There is a good photo of the Reagan's at the STS-4 landing next to Columbia in the Free Space section where you can see the probe deployed. |
oly | Thanks for the reference, I have found these photos on the web previously but they are usually cropped to hide most of the air data probe. There are also some high resolution landing photos but the detail is still lacking, this would appear to be a difficult item to capture an image of because the probes were only deployed for a short period of time. I cannot find when they were stowed post landing yet. |

In the OPF. |
lucspace | A challenging item. Here's a few I found: 1 | 2 | 3 |
oly | It looks as if the air data probes have been retracted in these post flight walk around photos. |
oly | On a side question to this, what are the two slots/ports aft of the Forward RCS section of the orbiter nose, in the upper black tile section just below the black/white intersection? Edit. I have worked this out I believe, Forward fuselage vent doors. |
X-Plane Fan | Here's a few I took of OV-105 after STS-126. Hope this is what you're looking for.

oly | Thank you so much for posting these photos, this is exactly what I have been looking for. Perfect detail. Thanks Mate. |

Nice! Thanks for sharing these... post-landing close-ups like these remind me of the video inspection that the landing convoy at Dryden/Edwards would do after the flight crew left the vehicle. It went out on NASA Select/NASA TV live -- back when there was only one shared satellite/transponder. The last one I recall was STS-111. |
lucspace | One more of the 'Reagan meet-up', but also only low-res... |
OV-105 | Only one person is still around from that photo now. |
