'For All Mankind' at SDCC:

Cast members and the creators of the Apple TV+ alt-space history series "For All Mankind" will be at this years's San Diego Comic Con to discuss the show's third season. Attendees will also be able to pick up Icon Heroes' Season 3 mission patches as an SDCC exclusive. The embroidered emblems include the insignia for the three crews racing to be the first on Mars.

Moon rocket money:

NASA's iconic Saturn V rocket will appear on the reverse, or tails-side of a 2024 dollar coin issued by the U.S. Mint. Alabama's governor selected the moon booster for the state's entry in the American Innovation $1 coin series. Committees reviewing the mint's 11 candidate designs recommended two different concepts for the Secretary of the Treasury to consider, one depicting a launch and the other focused on the Saturn V's engines.

Webb's First Deep Field:

The first full-color image to be released from the James Webb Space Telescope captured the deepest view of the universe ever seen. The image, called "Webb's First Deep Field," shows a galaxy cluster as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago, with even more distant galaxies being magnified from behind it. "It's hard to fathom," said President Joe Biden on Monday (July 11).

NASA Night:

The Houston Astros will host astronauts and offer a limited edition moon lander bobblehead as part of NASA Night on Saturday (July 16). Coinciding with the 53rd anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11, the team's celebration will include the return of a baseball that was flown on the International Space Station and a chance to send a postcard into space and later receive it back.

Casio x NASA:

Casio's new NASA-inspired G-Shock wristwatch is well 'suited' for space enthusiasts. The limited edition timepiece is a tribute to the pressure suits worn by NASA astronauts during launch and entry. Sporting a bright orange case and band, the new G-Shock is styled after the "pumpkin suits" first used on the space shuttle and next to fly on Orion spacecraft on Artemis moon missions.

Apollo 11 Flight Plan: Relaunched:

Fifty-three years after its pages were used to land the first astronauts on the moon, NASA's Apollo 11 flight plan has been reconstructed from the ground up. RelaunchSpace found the original fonts, recreated the graphics and laid out every page to be identical to the 1969 original, so that "Apollo 11 Flight Plan: Relaunched" would appeal to every space fan.

Aldrin artifact auction:

The pen that saved the Apollo 11 moon landing and a jacket that was worn during the mission are among the artifacts that Sotheby's is auctioning from the personal collection of astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The July 26th "Buzz Aldrin: American Icon" sale will feature items spanning Aldrin's NASA career, from his spacewalks aboard Gemini 12 to his moonwalk 53 years ago this week.

McDonald's moonman:

A newly-installed Apollo astronaut statue restores a Houston-area landmark that for more than 25 years welcomed visitors to NASA... with a side of fries. The McDonald's in Nassau Bay, which replaced the former location serving the Johnson Space Center community, erected a new version of the astronaut created by the same fiberglass artist as the 1995 original.

Mattel x SpaceX:

For the first time, SpaceX has partnered with a global toy company to launch its rockets and other vehicles into the hands of children and collectors. As part of a new, multi-year agreement, Mattel will create and market SpaceX-inspired products for its Matchbox line, as well as its direct-to-consumer platform, Mattel Creations. Mattel's first SpaceX products are set for release in 2023.

Space race renewed:

The alternate space history series "For All Mankind" has been renewed for a fourth season on Apple TV+. The news was announced Friday (July 22) at San Diego Comic Con during a panel with the show's cast and crew. Production on the new season is set to begin in August just as the third season concludes.

Record-setting space sale:

Sotheby's on Tuesday (July 26) set new records for the most valuable space exploration sale ever held and the most-ever paid at auction for a space-flown artifact. In total, the New York gallery's "Buzz Aldrin: American Icon" sale brought it $8.2 million, including the $2.8 million commanded by the Apollo 11 inflight coverall jacket that Aldrin wore on the mission.
