Apollo 1 in Photographs by J.L. Pickering and John Bisney, with Ed Hengeveld The most complete pictorial record of the Apollo 1 tragedy. The first manned mission planned for the Apollo program also produced a first tragedy: no US astronaut had previously died aboard a spacecraft. Apollo 7 in Photographs by J.L. Pickering and John Bisney, with Ed Hengeveld More than 700 images capture the history of the Apollo 7 mission, America's triumphant return to manned spaceflight. October 11, 1968, and the launch of Apollo 7 marked NASA's first manned spaceflight after the Apollo 1 disaster of January 1967. The success of Apollo 7 helped redirect the course of the Apollo program and, therefore, space history. - Hardcover, 336 pages

Looking forward to the October release of the Apollo 1 and Apollo 7 books! Is there any idea how far apart the future releases (through Apollo 17) will be? Thank you. |

Not to answer for him, but I just saw that J.L. posted an update to Facebook this evening. It doesn't address the pace of the future of the books, but... Since I am busy working on books for the most part these days, a quick update. Our 12 book Apollo series (Myself, John Bisney and Ed Hengeveld) is on track for first release in October. The Apollo 1 book is with the printer, and Apollo 7 is right behind. The three of us are thrilled with the way the books are turning out. In the meantime, we are well into work on future volumes. |

Apollo 8 in Photographs by J.L. Pickering and John Bisney, with Ed Hengeveld An unprecedented photographic study of the Apollo 8 mission, the first manned spaceflight to escape Earth's gravity and orbit the moon. The Apollo Photo Archive series comprises the most comprehensive pictorial record of America’s moon-landing program ever published. The series continues with the Apollo 8 launch in December 1968. Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders achieved several historic firsts on this flight. Apollo 8 was the first manned flight to escape Earth’s gravity, and the first to orbit another celestial body (the moon). Launched by the Saturn V rocket, the crew of Apollo 8 reached 24,593 mph, setting both manned speed and distance-from-Earth records. The Apollo Photo Archive features images of spacecraft and rocket assembly, crew selection and training, preflight activities, mission countdown, launch, the flight itself, splashdown, and subsequent crew appearances and related activities. This particular volume includes more than 800 images. - Hardcover, 368 pages

I just received notification from Amazon that the updated delivery for the Apollo 7 book is between December 18th and January 20th. Supply chain was cited as the reason for the delay. |

Amazon.uk are annoying me greatly. This is now a constant theme for books published in the States.I have discovered it is far easier, less complicated, and with little cost difference to go straight onto Amazon.com and order it directly from the US. In fact, on many occasions, it has been cheaper to buy a book direct from the US despite the postal rates being obviously higher; and also, the quality is better - many books I purchased directly are glossy pages with proper binding and hard covers. The UK versions, however, arriving many months later, are cheap second rate copies, printed by Amazon in the UK on what looks like a fax machine. |
