The National Space Center (NSC) in Moscow opened on Sept. 13, 2025. Located adjacent to the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center, the center was designed to bring together the various members of Russia's space industry under one roof. The building complex now includes Roscosmos' headquarters, Moscow Mission Control (TSuP) and offices for 18 space companies. On Oct. 3, Roscosmos Public Council voted to name the National Cosmonaut Training Center after Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to fly into space. The proposal was put forward by public organizations and trade unions. Roscosmos will soon submit a corresponding petition to the Moscow government. The Public Council is an advisory and consultative body within Roscosmos, designed to ensure that public interests are respected in the State Corporation's activities. It includes the heads of leading Russian scientific institutes and universities, representatives of executive and legislative authorities, Soviet and Russian cosmonauts, cultural figures, and advocates of space exploration. The Public Council is chaired by Igor Barmin.
