While the world knew Tom through his remarkable acting career, we knew him for his humor, curiosity, wisdom, generosity and the love he brought into our lives. He cared deeply about imagination, creativity, storytelling, service, veterans, the natural world and helping others find and share their own voices.

In 2016, Skeritt was inducted into the U.S. Space Camp Hall of Fame, together with his "SpaceCamp" cast mates and film crew.

From the U.S. Space & Rocket Center:

We are sad to learn of the passing of actor Tom Skerritt, who appeared in an astounding 170 films and television shows over his long career. He, of course, was the camp director and husband of Kate Capshaw's character in "SpaceCamp the Movie."
