I am hoping someone here can help me figure what these items were used for. According to the family they come from an employee that worked on the PLSS and life support.First is a 6" NASA meatball logo Beta cloth patch. The largest (and only) one I have seen. I thought PLSS, but it is larger than Neil Armstrong's one that sold at auction. And then a very interesting Remove Before Flight cover. I assume it is life support related but I have no real idea. The black part is an adhesive surround and the red part is a foam cover. Please help if you can. |

I would guess I have stumped the cpace community on these items. And for the record I am also clueless. |

Might help for a personal look over, Chuck, so is it at the ASM? |

I did find an auction for a 6" meatball cloth from last year but didn't have much info. |

Chuck - the NASA meatball patch you are asking about is most likely from the back of an Apollo white room technician like you see here in this photo taken in the Apollo 9 white room. It is not related to the PLSS. |

That is awesome, I had no idea the guys in the white room or any ground crew for that matter wore Beta cloth patches. this is new information and it is greatly appreciated. |

A collectSPACE member has been kind enough to forward me a photo of the Remove Before Flight cover installed on the Apollo capsule, but so far no one has been able to determine what it is covering/protecting. Can you help? |

It is probably covering/protecting the urine/wastewater overboard dump nozzle, part of the waste management system. |

One of the Unified S-Band omni directional antenna elements. |

Scott is the expert. However, similar covers were used on the overboard dump nozzles as well, see here. |

Tags may appear similar but the covers were different. White rectangular cover at the 10 o'clock (relative to the "Bozo nose") conceals the urine dump nozzle. |

True, in that photo, the dump nozzle is covered with the white rectangular cover. However, in the photo below, if you zoom in, you can see that there are three similar covers, two for the dump nozzles and one for the S-Band antenna. The S-Ban antenna cover appears smaller. |
