Soyuz MS-29 mission patch

Roscosmos cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina, together with NASA astronaut Anil Menon, are set to launch on Soyuz MS-29 to the International Space Station.

Nice design. Was kind of surprised to see the "four leaf clover" which is usually displayed on SpaceX Dragon flights.

Before becoming a NASA astronaut, Anil Menon served as SpaceX's first flight surgeon and worked on every Dragon mission from Demo-2 through Inspiration4.

Menon's wife, Anna, also worked for SpaceX, developing its crew ops and serving in mission control. She also flew on the Polaris Dawn mission.

That's all to say, Menon has a strong connection to SpaceX's human spaceflight program and its traditions.

I have two questions: what do the symbols in the upper left and right corners represent?

In the upper left corner we see a sable, a small animal from Dubrov's homeland (Khabarovsk-Russian Far East). Kikina is from Nosibirsk (Sibéria), maybe for her the sable represents also her homeland.

We have already the explanation for the upper right corner.

The “cloverleaf” in the upper right corner likely symbolizes SpaceX. It appears very often on SpaceX logos (see also Robert's info posted 04-27-2026 09:32 PM).

Anil Menon, speaking today at a NASA press conference previewing his mission, confirmed that he added the clover to the patch to represent his history at SpaceX.

The animal in the upper left represents Anna Kikina and her hometown in Siberia. The Amur (Siberian) tiger represents Pyotr Dubrov, as like him, it hails from the Khabarovsk region of Russia.

The embroidered patch, as seen in the crew's Sokol portraits:

That's a digitally altered image, the shadows are clearly simulated.

Completely agree! The crew has not yet their embroidered patches.

Zvezda and Kentavr will get these patches (main and backup crews) early next week.

All times are CT (US)
