From ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot's Facebook page: Delighted to share with you our Crew-12 mission patch and to shed some light on the symbolism behind its design! We hope you'll love it as much as we do."The backdrop of the Crew-12 patch sets the scene of this crew's odyssey through an enchanted forest, where adventure awaits around every corner. The trees, with fresh buds emerging, manifest both the crew's love and respect for nature and their hope and optimism for the future. Bright stars shine in the sky, lighting a path for each crew member, surrounded by smaller stars embodying their offspring. A mythical dragon breathes fire to fuel the trajectory of the Dragon capsule and set these explorers on their mission to the International Space Station, evoking the delicate balance and connections between living things and the technology that supports them, and the spirit of partnership between NASA and SpaceX. The flags of the crew member's home nations stand along the curvature of their one home planet, demonstrating the solid foundation and relationships that have supported them throughout their individual and collective journeys. |

Just one week before the launch. Do they produce some for the crew earlier? |

Ever since the first Dragon flight with Demo-1 up to Crew-12, I've received a promo email with the option to buy the shirt, cap and patch from the NASA employee exchange. Yet I never got the email for Crew-12. Did it actually go out to anyone else or maybe it just didn’t happen? It usually shows up in my inbox a few months before flight. |

Next to the American flag, two flags are hinted at on the right. Are these supposed to represent the flags of Russia and France? The flag of Russia consists of three equal stripes in white, blue, and red. The national flag of France is a tricolor consisting of three vertical stripes of equal width in blue, white, and red. In my opinion, the color arrangement does not match the national flags. |

Right! What's more, on Russian flag the blue colour is in the middle, white at the top, red at the bottom. |

Further, the stripe under the blue canton of the US flag should be white. |

NASA-SpaceX crew 12 patch: Here, too, the arrangement of the colors in the US flag is incorrect. On the left, the US flag: Blue Canton, red stripe, white stripe: Correct: Horizontal stripes, alternating red and white, with a blue rectangle in the canton. The stripe under the blue canton should be white. |

One more reason to collect only official NASA patches for the crew.

NASA recognizes both patches to be official — one is the crew mission patch, the other (SpaceX's) is the launch patch. |

The crew has been photographed wearing the patch, although it appears they may be early prototype or rushed versions:

I saw the discussion about the removal of Oleg Artemyev from the primary Crew-12 slate on the mission discussion topic.A Crew-12 patch design with Oleg's name on it is posted on the SpaceFacts.de website, so I am curious if that Crew-12 patch was produced before he was removed. |

The news of Oleg Artemyev being removed from the crew made headlines on Dec. 2, 2025. The artwork for the patch was not first seen by the public until almost three weeks later (it was formally first released on Jan. 8) and an embroidered version was not seen until Feb. 5.So while it is not impossible a patch exists with Artemyev's name, it is probably more likely that the artwork on Spacefacts.de was created for that site after the fact. |
