Capri Sun giving away 10K Moon Punch pouches for Artemis mission

February 25, 2026

— Carpi Sun is returning to the moon!

The drink brand is relaunching its limited edition Moon Punch as first introduced last year. The cherry-flavored beverage is coming back, in part, to celebrate NASA's upcoming Artemis II mission, the first to fly a crew by the moon in more than 50 years.

"Capri Sun is giving away 10,000 pouches in honor of NASA's planned 10-day Artemis II mission," the brand announced on Wednesday (Feb. 25).

When first offered in March 2025, Capri Sun's Moon Punch featured a first-of-its-kind, glow-in-the-dark series of pouches that each depicted a different phase of Earth's natural satellite. The same eight designs are being used again, only this time in a reddish hue and with a new name — Capri Sun Blood Moon Punch.

On March 3 of this year, the full moon will rise over parts of the Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania with a deep red-to-orange tint, the signal of a total lunar eclipse. Known as a "Blood Moon," the change in color is due to sunlight passing through Earth's atmosphere, shifting its white glow to a red shadow.

"Excitement around the moon is reaching new heights this year — from its dramatic deep-red glow to a historic crewed flyby and as momentum builds, we knew Capri Sun had to be a part of it," said Kristina Hannant, director of marketing at Capri Sun, in a statement. "Blood Moon Punch lets us tap into that cultural energy."

This is the last total lunar eclipse that will be visible from anywhere in the world until New Year's Eve 2028. At one point, it was looking like NASA might launch the Artemis II mission on the same day, although now that has been delayed until no earlier than April 1.

"While the Artemis II countdown extends a bit further, Capri Sun is just excited to celebrate NASA's commitment to lunar exploration, along with the upcoming Blood Moon," a company spokesperson told collectSPACE.

To that end, and as an ode to the Artemis II's planned 10-day loop beyond the moon and back to Earth, fans can head to moon-punch.com over the next 10 days and submit a self-captured photo of the moon for a chance to win a carton of Blood Moon Punch before it hits shelves nationwide. (Additional details about the giveaway and where to purchase Blood Moon Punch will be posted to the Capri Sun account on Instagram.)

When astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen lift off on the Artemis II mission, their dehydrated drinks will be packaged in the same type of foil as used by Capri Sun for its pouches. NASA adopted the foil laminate pouch in the early 1990s as space shuttle mission durations grew longer, requiring more compact food packaging.

The drink pouch being used on board the Artemis Orion spacecraft, as well as the International Space Station, is a longer version of a Capri Sun package, and has an added septum to fill it with water (the same opening is used to insert a straw).

On Earth, Capri Sun's original Moon Punch became more than just a novelty, "eclipsing" expectations last year and quickly became a top seller. In just the few months it was available, the original Moon Punch was "orbiting" sales of the brand's top-selling flavors, including Fruit Punch and Pacific Cooler, "proving it could hold its own among the classics."

"Our fans made one thing abundantly clear: they wanted it back," said Hannant.
