T O P I C R E V I E WSpaceflyerThe Technik Museum Speyer has dedicated its own area of the German space pioneers with the new section "German astronauts" within my exhibition "Apollo and Beyond" to recognize the achievements of these eleven men. This new exhibition area covers a total 194 exhibits. Exhibits, for example are from training, flown during the missions and awards. The new section is rounded off with detailed information boards about the astronauts and missions as well as detailed descriptions of the exhibits. The new section will be open to the public from October 25, 2015.In the last 5 years, I have built up this new part of the exhibition which is second to none in Germany. That was possible only because all German astronauts and the sister of the late Reinhard Furrer, who passed away in 1995, supported me with extraordinary exhibits. There is not any museum in Germany with such a huge collection of ALL German astronauts. The grand opening will take place on October 24, 2015. Confirmed guests are astronauts Ulf Merbold, Ernst Messerschmid, Hans Schlegel, Ulrich Walter, Reinhold Ewald, Gerhard Thiele and Gisela Furrer to talk about living and working in space.Above: View into the new section of "Germans Astronauts," which is still under construction. Next time I am in Germany, I will plan to visit there. mode1charlieWell done, Gerhard. This is a must-see museum for space (and aviation - and transportation in general, for that matter) in Europe.SkyMan1958It looks GREAT Gerhard! I hope to see it one of these days!
