heng44 | Apollo 7 astronauts (l-r) Eisele, Schirra and Cunningham pose for a photo at the Manned Spacecraft Center in February 1968. This was planned to be their official crew portrait, but later they chose another photo, which shows them wearing spacesuits and was made during training in May 1968. Ed Hengeveld |

My thoughts exactly! |
randy | I would almost have preferred this photo as the crew photo instead of the other one. |
mach3valkyrie | I'll take the Saturn 1B model. I like the official portrait that has a smile or two. |
Fra Mauro | This might have been what they looked like late in '66 when they were told that Apollo 2 was cancelled. Smile guys! |
carmelo | The flag is on right shoulder, like in Apollo 1 spacesuits. |
astro-nut | A great photo. Thanks for sharing! I like the white scarfs and the Saturn 1B model. |
Gilbert | I like this photo. I wonder where that model is today. |

Wow, that flag was BIG back in the day. By today's standards that is huge.Nice photo - thanks! |
Jerry Brouillette | Nice shot. Any idea of when this picture was taken compared to when they launched? From what I understand, they had a miserable flight with sinus congestions and they refused to don their helmets for re-entry. In space, there is no post nasal drip. It was the last flight for all three of them. Great history in this picture, these guys rule! |

I noticed that too. These are the only instances I've seen that come readily to mind of the Stars & Stripes being worn in the "retreat" position, at least by servicemembers. |

Jerry, read the caption. |
moorouge | Is it just me, or does it worry other people that those operating complex machinery have to have their names printed on their clothes to remind them of who they are? |
Jerry Brouillette | So it was about 8 months before the launch. Did NASA ever quarantine the crew before a flight to eliminate contact with any common virus? Do they do it now with ISS crews? Just wondering. |

Ditto with Randy, I prefer this photo better. |
