T O P I C R E V I E WRocketman!Pierre Mion, an iconic artist of the space age, has passed. It is somewhat of a cosmic coincidence that Pierre's spirit left this Earth on the fifty-second anniversary of the day Apollo 11 left the planet on its journey to land humans on the Moon. Some of Pierre's best known illustrations are his iconic depictions of that historic mission. Pierre Mion passed away on July 16, 2021. He was 89.Pierre's wife, Sandy, wrote to me on Saturday (July 17) to let me know of Pierre's passing the previous day. Sandy said that Pierre passed while at home under hospice care and was comfortable and surrounded by the things he loved. As a personal tribute, I have posted to my "Creating Space" blog my account of when my wife and I found ourselves guests of Pierre and Sandy Mion for a day at their home in Arizona in 2017.
