T O P I C R E V I E Wmusic_spaceI just initiated my first article on Wikipedia, Voskhod spacecraft "Globus" IMP navigation instrument, which left me wondering what collectSPACE members think of Wikipedia as a documentation source and as a outlet for scholarly space-related articles.Any thoughts?ilbassoI believe that a well-documented article is always a good addition to Wikipedia. Your term "scholarly" threw me for a minute, given Wikipedia's reputation. However, I do recall seeing last year that in a blind test of random articles, Wikipedia's accuracy rating was actually very close to Encyclopedia Britannica.I have posted a few photos here and there as supplements to existing articles. I have also made several corrections to blatant factual errors (e.g., someone's date of birth being 100 years off). LM1I use Wikipedia many times each week and have always found it to be very informative and useful. I noted that it does not have an article on Space Philately or Astro Philately and I encourage collectors interested in this subject to write such an article.music_space quote:Originally posted by ilbasso:Your term "scholarly" threw me for a minute, given Wikipedia's reputation. One's article is certainly scholarly if one abides by the research and editing guidelines. In a short time, you can write what they call a "stub" article, which is basically a contextual introduction and a contents structure for other to edit into.LM1That sounds okay to me. We have to start somewhere to record what space/astro philately is. We have to record the names and contributions of the founders before it is all forgotten.
