LCDR Scott Schneeweis | Turned on NASA TV a short while to find a spider climbing up the shuttle or inside the camera lens... couldn't tell which. Was anybody other then me watching and traumatized by this? |

Delta7 | That annoying hanging spider sound.wav |
Atlantis | At least it isn't woodpeckers again. |
Super Nova | Ick! Glad I missed that one. I guess they will have to rewrite the words to the "Itsy Bitsy Spider". Haven't there been mosquitoes that have hitched rides into orbit? Cheers. |
FFrench | It's now been driven back towards Titusville, having eaten a fuel sensor... |
Rodina | I, for one, welcome our new arachnid masters. |
Hart Sastrowardoyo | Was Peter Parker covering the launch? |

Simpsons/Kent Brockman reference noted and appreciated, especially since it was the Buzz Aldrin episode. I think he used the term "overlords" though |
Safecoat | Could be one of those Mexican Red Rumps that have been prospering in Florida since the 1970's. My son will love seeing this! He collects Tarantulas, has over 50 now and 17 scorpions too! |
Scott | Gives a new meaning to "crawler"! |
ColinBurgess | He wasn't chasing a Gumdrop by any chance? |

Thanks Francis. Couldn't you have driven it towards Cocoa Beach instead? |

This story really appears to have legs on the Web. |

Blackarrow | This makes my flesh crawl...I really don't like spiders! When I went to Florida in June for the STS-117 launch, I made a point of asking for a room at the Holiday Inn which wasn't on the ground floor, to reduce the chances of "something" crawling in from outside. In fact, during my week's visit to sub-tropical Florida I don't think I saw a single spider, or even a web. In contrast, by July, Northern Ireland seems to be festooned with webs and spiders measuring at least 3 inches across scuttle across our living-room floor. I feel like emigrating between late June and late October to escape the eight-legged plague. |
ASCAN1984 | This is shuttle launch control and were at T minus 3 hours 11 minutes and counting. The structural test article has now arrived on site and is beginning the structural stability test. |
Jay Chladek | I knew NASA had a bug in the system, but I thought it was just the ECO sensors! I wonder if this will make NASA's year end highlight reel for events of 2007 with the caption "The real reason why STS-122 was grounded". |

Maybe this is NASA's new spin doctor to help spin a web of lies |
Rizz | ...or as someone else commented, maybe thats NASA's way of securing the foam to the ET. |
