T O P I C R E V I E WDuke Of URLDespite the best efforts of drivers in several states, I've returned home. I had to weed through my emails - I was genuinely surprised by the tremendous number of college coeds just DYING to meet me.On the Arkansas/Oklahome state line, some people dropped a dog off and split just before I came in to fuel. Naturally, I took him with me (I know it's a him because I paid the kid $5 to look). What I neglected to consider was that his status as one of those foo-foo dogs would relate to some of the cargo I was carrying.I went to the Cosmosphere. The folks there were really tremendous and the stuff was swell. Also, I made a special stop in Weatherford OK at the General Thomas P. Stafford Museum. The people there (both of 'em) were just the best. However, I was surprised to learn the local gentry had absolutely no clue who Gen Stafford is.I would have banged into Edwards AFB to see what was at Dryden, but honestly the people in that area seemed unfriendly so I just split for Las Vegas. While in LV I spent WAY too much on junk at the Liberace museum. I skipped the Wizard of Oz stuff they were selling at a Kansas Welcome Center. Of course if the car rolled people would get the wrong idea if I was found buried in Liberace AND Judy Garland stuff. All I would have needed then was a Streisand CD playing and my ticket stub to "Brokeback Mountain" in my pocket.Anyhow, people should get to the Cosmosphere (even if it's a bit hard to find) and the General Thomas P Stafford museum, if only to say hello to the good folks at each.Oh, yeah, the dog's name is now "Foo-Foo".HouseDadX4I hope none of us Oklahomans tried to run you off the road..I'm sure you probably passed through Yukon if you visited Weatherford..we are about 40 minutes from the Stafford museum..Have been there a couple of times myself...and have met and spoken with General Stafford a couple of times..The Cosmosphere is a great place to visit as well, even though you need a GPS to find Hutchinson..I recommend it too..Duke Of URLAbsolutely I was in Yukon! Great folks from one end of Oklahoma to the other. And the people there are pretty good drivers. I mean, there isn't enough traffic in the state to trigger anger issues anyhow, but I think the whole of Oklahoma is just great.I'm envious you got to meet Gen. Stafford. I'd love to simply shake the man's hand. It's an actual shame more people in Weatherford aren't aware of the magnitude of his contributions to the nation.Kansas people are really nice too. (Is this an actual New Yorker speaking???)kyraCan we see a picture of Foo-Foo ? That kind of thing doesn't happen everyday. It's one of those events inspired by the Universe!KyraLT Scott SchneeweisAre you sure you didnt actually pick up "Favor Flave"? (I think Foo Foo was the nick name given by Bridget Nielson to "Mr Flave" on the VH1 show SURREAL LIFE and STRANGE LOVE - I dont actually watch these shows of course..one of my shipmates told me about them)...was the dog wearing a big clock around its neck and did it have lots of gold teeth?------------------Scott SchneeweisURL http://www.SPACEAHOLIC.com/[This message has been edited by LT Scott Schneeweis (edited January 08, 2006).]mdmyer[...was the dog wearing a big clock around its neck and did it have lots of gold teeth?Another thing that might tell if it is Flavor Flave or a dog would be to listen to its voice. If it growls and barks it is a dog. Hummmm... No wait a minute, that is what Flavor Flave sounds like when he is trying to sing. Never Mind.
